  • here is mine,

I never understood why people would name their child a certain name but then use their middle name.

I understand if they are named after someone and you choose to use the middle instead but I never understood if you just named them a certain name but use the middle. Why not just give them that as a first name?

  • I dont understand why parents get all bent out of shape when their kid doesnt go to bed at the exact same time every night or doesnt STTN every night.

I dont go to bed at the same time. I don't sleep through the night every night. Sometimes I can't fall asleep right away. Sometimes I'm thirsty. Sometimes I have a bad dream. Sometimes I gotta pee. Is there something magical that none of these things are supposed to happen to children?

I do not see the big deal.

I agree, for the most part T goes to bed around 8 and looks to go to sleep at that time but there are nights where its 10pm and she is still playing, especially on weekends if we've been out. I don't get to upset about it especially if she isn't cranky.

  • I have not and will not give Alex soda or fast food and I admit I do judge a little when I see others giving their young kids fast food.  I also don't eat it very often myself though.  I do believe this is one of the biggest contributing factors to our nations weight problem, parents passing the bad habit of eating bad food to their kids.

Now I am not saying I will never give Alex these things, I just don't know at what point or what age I'll feel like he can have it.  I would honestly rather him not have it ever but I know it will happen at some point.

  • I don't get the hype over Pinterest.

Chris gave Sam a sip of my soda last night while I was out walking Loki... I came in and caught him in the act, and I was PISSED.  For some reason, soda just seems so unnecessary when it comes to kids, and I just really don't agree with it.  We hardly eat fast food enough these days for that to even be a concern, but I do admit that I may give Samma a small bite of, say, my York peppermint patty while I'm eating one, but that's really the extent of it.

I'm actually getting annoyed with it the more people join.  I liked it when it wasn't so popular, and now I'm getting followers like EverSave.  Really?

And I still don't get the hype over InstaGram.

Luckily Joel and I are on the same page when it comes to what Alex can and can't eat, if anything Joel is even more conservative than I am.  We have given him bites of chocolate though too, like kit kats and peppermint patties but all he gets is a small bite or two not a whole one to himself.  I'm sure some will judge this too.

Yeah, we definitely had a chat about it last night and I think we're on the same page now, but when it happened I was practically in shock!  Like -- WHY?!  But when it comes to the candy, he is actually more conservative than I am, so yeah.... judge away!

  • Other than jokes regarding stupid Rick Santorum, I have no interest in the GOP candidates because I am happily voting for Obama.

This.  Only because Ron Paul won't make it. :-P Judge judge judge! :)

  • I'm depressed that the Lakers traded Luke Walton- not because it makes a rival team better, but because he went to a team where I get to watch him sit on the bench less often.

  • Re: STTN - I agree with that point. I seriously cannot remember the last time I slept a solid 8 hours, so I don't really get why some parents expect their child to do that. Bedtime routines are important, yes, but you can't expect them to go 100% smoothly 100% of the time.

Re: food & soda - We don't give Ellie soda either, as it's totally devoid of nutrients and it would be pointless. So I agree with that point. However, I have given Ellie fast food in the past when we're busy and I see no problem with it as long as good choices are made. It IS possible to make sound nutritional choices at a fast food restaurant. You just have to do your research and know what to avoid. Some are obvious (choosing the fruit option over fries) and some are less so (Chick-Fil-A chicken nuggets over McDonald's more processed ones.) As long as it's a treat and not and every night thing, I think it's fine.

Okay I agree, you can make okay choices with fast food.  Here we don't have Chick-Fil-A or any of the other "healthy" fast food type places.  We just have Burger King, McDonald's, Wendy's, Arby's and Taco Bell all of which are 30 minutes away from us which I also think removes the option for us.
