Updates (cancelled checks) && a surprise!

So remember last week how I was freaking out about trying to find the cancelled checks for FI's CC? Well that worked out okay, thanks to you ladies! I was able to call the bank and have everything taken care of. Our file was sent back to underwriting.

Then they asked for a copy of a cancelled check of the deposit on the house. Ok no problem.

Then we had to send them FI's CC statements (NOW they want them?! They said they didn't want it the other day).

Then we had to make some changes on our home owner's policy.

And then the last thing they asked was the result of the water test (we have a private well). I was livid, close to strangling somebody. Because we had the test done 1.5 months ago and I informed them that we had the results. They said "oh that's good". So last night I was scrambling around trying to get somebody to fax them the actual results (we didn't have them for some reason). They finally got it at 1 am this morning.

Then today they tell us that we will not know anything until next week. 2 hours later, the lender informs us that we got our loan!! We are closing on Monday! Thank god! We were supposed to close on the 8th.

What do we do to prepare ourselves for closing? We are meeting with our lender tomorrow to figure out some stuff. Any tips?

Re: Updates (cancelled checks) && a surprise!

  • We had to bring 2 forms of ID to closing (I brought my driver's license and my passport) to our closing. Some lenders require that, some don't.

We also had to have a cashier's check for the full amount needed that day (no personal check allowed). I was told the exact amount to have at least a day beforehand so I was able to get the check.

I also brought my own pen and was prepared to sign my name a million times. That was really all that was required of us at that point!

  • Verify with the lender that they will accept a certified check.  We were told that our title company requires us to wire the money from our bank since our dp amount/closing costs were larger than a certain amount.
