DH leaves for basic in a few months (notice me trying to be aware of OPSEC :-)) So at that time he'll need to enroll me and DS in DEERS and the Tricare network. But in Maine there aren't any military bases or hospitals near us, does that automatically put us in Tricare Remote? Once we get to a base, can we change it to whichever one we decide on?

Re: TriCare question
You'll automatically be enrolled in Tricare standard. To enroll in prime remote you'll have to go to their website(give me a min and I'll get it) and fill out the enrollment form. When I did mine, my remote area was not eligible for online enrollment so I had to print it and fax it in. Your area might let you do it all online. You can switch to full on prime when you get to your first duty station.
ETA - I'm guessing you already have a family care doctor and a ped. for your son so call and find out if they will accept TriCare. It helps if you already have a network provider in mind when you enroll.
Yes he does already have a Ped. I'm going to call this afternoon and ask if they take Tricare. I'll be so sad if they don't, we really love her!
Thanks for the info!
