I'm throwing a surprise party for my bf's birthday and plan on turning the apartment into a cigar bar (there aren't any where I live). If anyone has ever been to a cigar bar can you give me some suggestions on what to include? Thank you.

Re: Surprise party
I agree. Not to mention how your neighbors (who share walls and air vents with you) would feel about it. I had a huge card party in an apartment once. Maybe half the people were smoking cigarettes (probably not that many) and the smoke was incredible and I was even a smoker myself at the time. Cigar smoke is just so much more dense, I don't see how it would work. Cigar Bars have high end smoke eaters to deal with the smoke.
You might want to move this to the Entertaining Ideas board (that one's about party planning, this one is about TV and movies and stuff).
MH and his friends sometimes get cigars for special occasions, like our friend's wedding recently. I know some of the brands they get are Montecristo, Cohiba and Macanudo. Cigar stores/websites usually have sampler packs, too, so you can get some different varieties. Definitely put out some cutters, ashtrays and matches/lighters.
Go to a local cigar shop ... tell them what you want to spend and ask for suggestions. We have a JR Cigar near us and they've always been super-nice and helpful.
Well for one, I wouldn't want that in my apartment at all, so if you live with someone I would suggest clearing it them first. Also be prepared to kiss your deposit goodbye, because cigar smoke is nasty.
But if you are 100% determined to do this, I would think you'd also want snifters of brandy.
