Help, my cruise line, Princess just called and cancelled our cruise that we leave for on Saturday! It was going out of puerto rico for 14 days. I'm sure we get our money back but now we have tickets that we bought with air miles and time off work etc.
What a headache! What a downer!
Any ideas of how to fix this? What to do? I am in shock!
Re: WTF cruise cancelled
That sucks I'm so sorry! I just jumped over to cruise critic, there is a thread about that cruise going on right now. Some of your fellow cruisers have held cabins on the celebrity summit leaving out of San Juan the same day.
H and I are frequent celebrity cruisers, the line is really great and you would at least get to save your vacation!
And here is the artical explaining the cancellation

Hope this helps. I'm so sorry :-(
News Article3/15/2012Caribbean Princess UpdateCaribbean Princess experienced a problem with the port propulsion motor which necessitated the ship returning to San Juan yesterday to evaluate the situation. After further review by technical experts, we have confirmed the full extent of the damage to the motor. We now know the time and work required to make the repairs and we regret that we need to cancel the next two voyages, departing March 18 and March 25.Cancelling a cruise is not a decision we take lightly, and we sincerely apologize to our affected passengers for the disappointment this causes.Passengers booked on these sailings will receive a full refund as well as a 25% credit towards a future cruise. Those who booked their flights through Princess will receive a full refund or a future air credit based on the type of air purchased. Passengers who booked their air independently can submit their air change fees to Princess for a refund. We will also refund any transfers, pre- and post-hotel packages and government fees and taxes.Passengers are currently being notified with these details. The next Caribbean Princess cruise is scheduled to depart from San Juan on April 1.
They may be in for quite a surprise.
Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
Why? The holds are valid for 24 hours so the cabins won't go anywhere, the ship is newly refurbished, and they are still able to go on a vacation from the port they were planning on leaving from.
Thanks for all the thoughts and advice. The celebrity cruise must have filled up fast because when I checked there was/is nothing.
We decided to just keep our original flight, and go to PR for 6 nights, then fly back to Florida and take a 7 day cruise out of there. Not what we planned originally, but it works.
Still lame though!
This will probably be a much better vacation, so congrats! 14 days on a cruise is a loooooooong time...
