Dessert filling for crescent rolls
I found this super cute idea online for Easter http://www.hungryhappenings.com/2011/04/fun-idea-for-easter-brunch-carrot.html, but my family doesn't particularly like egg salad. I am trying to come up with a way to still use the shell, but maybe make it into a dessert of some kind instead. Ideally, I was looking for something that would still be Easter themed (i.e. carrots, eggs, etc.)
Any ideas?
Re: Dessert filling for crescent rolls
You could do chicken salad or crab salad or tuna salad instead, for savory.
They kind of look like cream horns for me, so you could maybe fill them with whipped cream or pastry cream? Idk how well that would go with the buttery taste of crescent rolls, though.
My first thought was Nutella! I just love that stuff!!! But then I saw how big they were. That's A LOT of nutella!!! Maybe if you made the carrots smaller that would be good.
Otherwise, what about sauteed apples?? This is a great recipe. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/sauteed-apples/detail.aspx?event8=1&prop24=SR_Title&e11=sauteed%20apples&e8=Quick%20Search&event10=1&e7=Home%20Page
You may just have to dice the apples into smaller chunks.
Good luck!
I have no ideas, sorry, but those are so cute! My family loves egg salad. Thanks for sharing.
GL with your version!
