Phoenix Area Food & Happenings

Howdy!

I'll be in Phoenix (Chandler) next month (4/19-4/22). On 4/21 I plan on doing the Pat's Run (very excited about). Are there any MUST see/do/eat/experiences in the area? We have a friend who lives there, who's asked me to put a list of ideas together for what we'd like to do. Other than the run and Sedona, I haven't got a clue. I LOVE good food and drinks, so medium priced restaurants in that price range ideas?

 THANKS!

Re: Phoenix Area Food & Happenings

  • I posted a couple of Scottsdale recs here.

  • We ate at Eddie's House in Scottsdale last weekend and really enjoyed the food.
  • Here's an old blog post of mine about our trip to Sedona and Scottsdale. A list of the activities and restaurants is all linked at the bottom.

I'd recommend everything except the Millennium McCormick Ranch hotel (fine but the rooms were a bit outdated).

  • A couple of my fav's:

In Sedona: Taos Cantina for an awesome selection of New Mexican food

In Chandler: BLD for HH (otherwise pricey), Oreganos for pizza.

    In Gilbert: Joe's BBQ

In Scottsdale: Los Sombreros, RnR, Daily Dose

  • I'm doing Pat's Run also!  I put this in the other AZ thread, but since Pat's Run is in Tempe, you'll be right there, so check out Four Peaks Brewery.  Great food and beer (in fact, that's where we are planning to do lunch after the run).

I also second the Joe's BBQ rec for Gilbert, H and I go there a lot.  It's even where we did our RD for our wedding.  Joe's Farm Grill (their sister restuarant) isn't too far from there either and they were featured on Diner's Drive-in & Dives and have a seriously awesome seared ahi sandwhich.

  • We like Joes BBQ too, the restaurant across the street is great too- Liberty Market!  For breakfast in Gilbert we like the Coffee Shop which is on the same property as Joes Farm Grill that someone else mentioned.  In Scottsdale, The Breakfast Club is good for breakfast and lunch.  True Foods Kitchen in Phoenix and Scottsdale are also good for dinner and the one in Scottsdale is in a nice shopping area, the Scottsdale Quarter.
  • The Scottsdale Culinary Festival is that same weekend.  You'll love it!
