NOLA restaurant recs - with a challenge

I am going to NOLA in 2 weeks, and need restaurant recs that are vegetarian friendly.

And are delicious.

And don't have just pasta (or any derivative thereof) as their sole "vegetarian" dish.

GO!

Boludos.

Houston is a short trip away from NOLA...just saying.

Restaurant August has a vegetarian tasting menu, it is my fav restaurant in NOLA.

  • I love Lola's-they have a really good vegetarian paella.Central grocery even has a vegetarian mufaletta.  The Gumbo Shop has a veg special-but nothing to write home about.  La Crepe Nanou also has some good options.

For casual places, I'd check out Carmo, Green Goddess and Surrey's.  For more upscale, I think the pp mentioned the vegetarian tasting menu at August.  I'd also check out Gautreau's and Root because I think they have some veg options that aren't just pasta.  La Petite Grocery would also be a good choice-- if you let the chef know when you make a reservation, he'll be able to provide something interesting.  If you have a car and are here on a Friday, I would recommend Saffron Nola on the West Bank.  It's sort of Nola infused Indian, and it's super delicious.
  • These places are delicious and all have at least one actual vegetarian entree.

I really loved Cochon and Sylvain, but I don't think they'll be good for you (although maybe you could make a meal of sides).

Also, I hated Green Goddess, so take that FWIW.
