Somewhat silly question RE: interview hairstyle

This is sort of a silly question, I suppose, regarding interview hairstyles. I prefer to wear my hair pulled up/back because I just feel more confident for some reason. But, it's too short right now to make a proper bun. Is it professional enough to put it back in a low ponytail or should I just suck it up and wear it down? Other ideas? I do not have great hair skills, so my options are somewhat limited.

I'd probably go with it down. I think it might look more polished than in a pony (I love pony tails though, just not at an interview).

Thanks for your responses. That was what I figured. I've probably already over-thought this, especially considering that I'm interviewing for engineering positions.

I guess I'll be the minority here, but I would go with what makes you feel most confident. A low ponytail can be done professionally, especially if the rest of you is dressed professionally. If you are not used to having it down and spend the interview playing with it, that will be worse. Good luck no matter which hairstyle you choose!

i agree with paula. i would go with whatever makes you feel more confident. also, if you have a tendency to mess with your hair when you get nervous (i do!), i think a low ponytail is the way to go.

Sorry know you prob don't need any extras in here, but agreed w/ the ladies that say confident low pony is the way to go.

I did want to add that you should do a hair wrap. (Keep a small-ish strand outside of pull up and then wrap it around to hide any band.) Hope you know what I'm talking about here! Or do a coordinating scarf to dress if up a bit?

A girl should enter with pony in interview but a boy with long hair i think .....without pony with open hire but if his hair too long in condition that make pony.

I'd go with however you think it looks best and most professional. I have naturally curly hair. For interviews, I tend to straighten it out because when it is curly, I think it makes me look young and not as professional. That being said, if it is summer and humid, I get weird waves and curls. Esp because I live/work in a large city, so usually am walking or taking public transportation to interviews (i.e. not riding to and from in an air conditioned car). So I would wear it in a low, polished pony tail versus ending up with strange curls.
