Need ideas for cute casual 'sneakers'
I am looking for something comfortable in terms of slip-ons or ones with velcro or laces...something like those Puma sneakers that used to be popular. This would be for casual wear on the weekends as an alternative to flip flops or running shoes (for walkability).
I'm thinking about those Sperry Top Siders but maybe those are too trendy. And not sure if they are comfortable.

These aren't slip-on, but I like:

Converse also has some slip-on styles, as does Puma, which can be really cute.
How about something like this? They come in quite a few neutral colors.

I still wear mine but they are on their last legs. I have been searching for a replacement but can't find all black leather like my current pair. You guys will think I'm nuts but I am considering the concealed heel sneakers like the Ash pair that Cheetah is the New Black blogger has. But I'm not as fashion forward as she is.

This, exactly, but I got mine from Macy's and in a size 8 (and I normally wear an 8.5). I wore mine yesterday walking around a Disney park and they were comfy and cute.
I do also agree that Pumas are not out of style, and in fact saw some cute ones at an outlet mall the other day that I would have bought if they had my size.
Pumas and converse are my go-tos. I have these:

I just got a pair of these for commuting to/from work. I hope they don't look too grandma-looking. I always thought Merrells were for old people, but I really liked these.

Toms are also a cute option.
