zomg..we bought a house...
Talk about a whirlwind yesterday...We drove 3 1/2 hours...saw this house first at noon...went to see 5 other houses...felt like we needed to go back after we saw the other houses at 3:30....looked at each other and said "we can't let this get away"...had the offer in by 5...and they accepted by 8! I can't believe it just lined up so well for us because it just came on the market on Thursday afternoon! I knew they said when you see it, you see it...but I didn't believe it until we walked into this house the first time..and then again the second time.
There is a link on the private board to it because I didn't want the address out on the public board. this is not facebook news though since school still doesn't know I'm not coming back.
OF COURSE..like with all things in my life...my mother has put it down and actually said "ugh" when I said the offer was accepted...but I had a good talk with her best friend and am excited about this again. I just wish my mother didn't have to ruin every single major event in my life by being so negative until 100 other people tell her what a good thing it is. It's really emotionally draining.

Congratulations!! I truly didn't believe people when they said that you just know it's your house when you walk in, but it happened that way for us too.
Sorry your mom isn't being supportive = My dad didn't think it was a great idea when we bought our house either but he eventually got used to the idea and got over it.

That would be emotionally draining. Are you moving further from her? I think sometimes moms have a hard time letting go... but maybe that isn't the case. I recall you mentioning issues with your mom (like with the baby and stuff) but dont know the whole story.

Thanks, ladies! We are excited! We won't move until the baby is born and we have had a little time adjusting to parenthood, so probably mid-July. We close in May, but that will give us time to get it painted, etc before we move everything in.
We will be further from my parents now, but I don't think that has anything to do with it really. She has just always doubted/belittled anything I have done because she feels the need to control my life and when she isn't getting the control she wants, she throws these tantrums. While she almost always gets over them when 50 other people justify or are excited about what I'm doing, but it is extremely emotionally draining to hear that crap all the time. I just can't do anything right. This is when I REALLLLLY hate being an only child..there is no one else to take her attention or to really understand what she is like and help me deal with it. The ridiculous part is...she isn't exactly one to talk. She can't even decide on or pick a pair of jeans without going back to a store 4 times. They have been in their house for 25 years and still have never bought their own furniture or carpeted the house because she hates the house and also can't decide on what furniture to get or what carpet to it. So she is FARRRR from perfect and having room to judge anyone's decisions, yet is louder about it than anyone. It's frustrating and after having it happen after every life milestone of mine...I'm really tired of it.

Sorry to hear about your mom though. That really stinks that she's so negative about everything. Try not to let her discourage you- buying a house is a huge accomplishment! You have every right to be thrilled and excited

Now it's only a 5 hour drive-we will have to meet once everyone is settled!
It was INTENSE! But the market there is quick right now, unfortunately. The good houses are on and off in less than a week.
We close May 18th, but we won't move until July.
Yes, we will! We would have only been 2-3 hours with me in MD, but by the time you get to PA, I'll be 8 months pregnant and in no shape to travel to Philly and then we will be packing. We'll figure something out this fall!
