Speaking of kids...

I was driving in the parking lot of the grocery store today, heading towards the driveway to the main road, and there was one car in front of me.  They stopped when we came up to a group of four teenagers hanging out in the parking lot, goofing around.  One shoved one kid in front of the car and the car stopped short.  They all gathered together then and waved the car on, and then as the car started pulling up, one would jump in front of it!  They didn't this a couple times.  They obviously thought it was hilarious.  I turned my car around and drove the long way around.  In hindsight, I should have called the cops.

WTF is wrong with kids!?  Jumping in front of cars for fun?  WTH kind of hobby is that?

Re: Speaking of kids...

  • Ugh. The more I work with high schoolers, the more I realize how dumb kids are.

The sad part is that I know lots of people who were just as dumb when we were in high school. I laughed at my high school math teacher when she said that teenagers have no sense of mortality, and it is completely true. Sigh.

I couldn't even begin to tell you some of the stupid sh!t I've done, and didn't even think about it.

  • I did lots of stupid stuff. Not necessarily me, but I was a part of a group when dumb sh!t happened. I remember driving to the lake one time with a group of kids in a jeep wrangler with no top or doors and they were setting off fireworks out of the car while driving. We also rode 4wheelers around a friends tree farm after dark completely drunk. And to think my parents thought I was the good child.
  • When we first moved into our house, the kids at the end of the block were doing something similar.  They would wait til they saw a car and then run out into the street so that it would have to stop.  They did it to the Hubby & he came in the house and told me.  We both got into his car and drove down the street, rolled down our windows & DH said "Knock it off."  They tried to play dumb, so I said "Listen, I know where you live & I'm not above letting your parents know what's going on if you don't cut it out.  We don't want anyone to get hurt, alright?"  They went inside and haven't done it around here in over a year.

Oh yes.  I went there.  We are officially "those" people.

That's called playing chicken, right? I vaguely remember that the older sister of a girl I went to grade school with was hit playing that, and never really recovered.

Teenagers are ridiculously stupid - I know this because I was Queen Idiot as a teen. I'm lucky I wasn't hurt, killed or arrested doing any of the crazy shiit I did.
