My fitness pal ?s

It says my goal is 55% carboyhydrates, 30% fat, and 15% protein. Is this typical? How essential is it to have that much fat in my diet? It also has my daily calorie goal at 1290...is that too low? I realize I have been eating 1200-1500 per day. Thanks!

Re: My fitness pal ?s

  • I think it's important to have healthy fats in the diet. Among other benefits, it helps you feel satisfied so you don't overeat.

As far as calories, are you BFing? If so, that's too low. If not, it could be fine.

  • If you think the calorie goal is too low, you can change the rate at which you want to lose (say from 1.5lbs/wk to 1lb/wk), or you can manually enter a calorie goal. I do the latter (using the app) after I calculate my BMR and set a reasonable deficit.

Personally, that macronutrient ratio seems a little carb-heavy to me. I try to keep my carbs between 40-45%.
