So eyefly was a bust..recommend your online RX glasses seller

So I got a promo for eyefly, bought two pairs on 2/25. When I checked my order status on 3/8 it said pending eye doc info. I called eyefly and they said they had not contacted the eye doc and would update my status to rush since it was taking so long. I checked my order again on 3/16 and it still said pending eye doc info. I called my eye doc they said they never got a request for my glasses prescription. I called eyefly again and they said they would put ANOTHER rush. At that point I just asked if I could cancel the order and they complied.

I really wanted my stronger prescription so I ordered some contacts from 1800 contacts and they were shipped out the next day(they are great imo).

But I still need glasses. Any recommendations for online retailers? I'm hoping to save a few $$$$.

  • My H uses WarbyParker.com

All glasses (lenses included) are $95 and they donate a pair.  And unlike Toms whose business model actually harms third world economies, Warby Parker actually trains local people to start their own glasses companies so they help the local economies.

You can order 5 pairs online to try on at home, send them back (free) and order the one that looked best on you.  Or do virtual try on.  I'm a huge fan.

  • We've also used Warby Parker and have been really happy.
  • I've used coastal.com to buy glasses and have been really happy.  Right now they have a deal going on, most of their frames are on sale for $38 but I think that's only good til the 19th.  If you're using them for the first time there's a code on their main page to get your first pair for free.

  • I've ordered 2 glasses from Warby Parker and have been happy.

DH and some friends have ordered from 141 Eyewear and have been happy

  • I've ordered a free pair from Coastal, they are cute enough and since I only paid somewhere around $10 total it was a great value.

I'd never heard of Warby Parker before - going to have to check them out.

  • I've gotten several pairs from Zenni Optical over the years. They're inexpensive, but they've held up well. I also got a pair of prescription wayfarer style sunglasses there a couple of years ago and I still wear them off and on. I have a friend who likes Global Eyeglasses as well, but I've never purchased any from them.

  • I ordered 2 pairs from Zenni Optical last year. Total for both pairs with shipping was $35! Can't beat that deal and the glasses are pretty nice.

Yep, I've been really happy with Zenni, and know several other people that have used them and done well.

  • Zenni does a great job! Great glasses at great prices. Plus, it allows you to upload a picture to sort of see how the frames look on your picture, and it's very easy to use.
