Olympic Distance Triathalon

Anybody done an Olympic Distance triathalon and have a training plan recommendation? I've done a couple of sprints over the year, but never this distance.  Any other advice for getting ready for this race?

Re: Olympic Distance Triathalon

  • I used the beginnertriathlete.com plan, though I didn't follow it to a T.  I found that the swim to bike wasn't too bad, and the bike wasn't too different either, but I wasn't prepared for the run, it killed me!
  • I really like the Olympic distance. You are out much longer than a sprint but it's still quite a fast distance. You still need to practice fueling and drinking while you are training as you will be out there 3 or less hours (give or take).

www.trifuel.com has good basic training plans.

You can also see if there are any local clubs or teams in your area and a coach can give you a more customized plan.

Are you doing any sort of training right now? This is the time to start building your base for the upcoming season! You might want to find a plan that includes base building weeks depending on when you are racing.

     Good luck!
