My cheapie Kohl's luggage isn't going to survive another trip so I need to get a new bag before we head to Cancun next month. I'm looking for a big upright (around 29"), spinner wheels and durable. Any suggestions?

Is your current bag a 29" upright? If you don't already have one, I would be hesitant to buy such a large suitcase. I've had a 29" upright for 12 years, and the only times I use it are when I'm moving. It's too big and too heavy for normal travel, and a lightweight 29" will weigh nearly 10 pounds on its own, so usually you can barely fill it half full before you hit the 50-pound luggage limit. I usually travel with a 25" ultra-light upright, and I still struggle to stay under the 50-pound weight limit. IMO a 25" expandable is more versatile, because you can usually fill it most of the way (which keeps things from falling around inside), and on the occasions that you do want to go over the 50-pound limit (or you're carrying something bulky and lightweight like a down jacket) you can expand it to create more space.
My 25" upright is a lightweight Samsonite spinner, and I adore it. I've definitely put it through some serious abuse! I travel to the US for work a few times each year, and every time I do some serious shopping. I've dragged the bag back fully expanded with 70-pounds of clothes, cosmetics, electronics, etc inside, and it's still in great shape (aside from all the scuff marks from baggage manhandlers and luggage carousels -- I don't recommend pale-colored luggage)!
I would recommend Briggs & Riley. We got a really good deal at Marshall's a few years ago. They have a lifetime warranty. One time we traveled the TSA slashed our zippers bc they couldn't open the TSA-approved lock. We sent it in for free after our return and they fixed it for free. Last year one of the handles came off and they again fixed it for free. We've had the luggage for about 4 years now and apart from those two things they've held up well. We also got them in light grey which makes them super easy to spot on the luggage belt.
I also wouldn't get a 29". Way too big! We have a 24" expandable and a 20" expandable that fits in the overhead bin when not expanded. You don't want to go over the limit for the weight.
