Debt Collector question

We have a help line here at work that my group supports. It's no ones personal line, but we all answer calls from it. For the last couple of weeks we've gotten 3-4 calls a day from a debt collector. We've explained that this is a business number and not anyone's personal number and to please stop calling us,  but no dice. I figure they think we're lying.

Any suggestions on how to make it stop?

Re: Debt Collector question

  • Call the main line of this place and have them take your number off of their list. Let them know this is a place of business and you have NO IDEA who this person is.

When they don't do this tell them you stop calling immediately and only communicate by writing, and if they continue to call you know they are violating the FDCPA. Tell them your phone lines are all recorded so you will have documented proof they are violating the act and know they will be fined ( I believe $1,000 dollars) each time they commit a violation.  What is the name of the company calling if you don't mind, I can dig around creditboards and see what I have heard about them.

  • Thanks! We did the first part twice this morning. If (when) they call back again, we'll go to the communicate only in writing part. The company is GE something.

Seriously, we get enough calls to that help line without someone looking for Mimi.
