Crossfitters - advice please?
Hi All,
I am very interested in Cross-Fit, but have no box near me. I was looking on Pinterest and found these WOD workouts from Self Magazine. http://www.self.com/fitness/workouts/2011/10/crossfit-slideshow#slide=12 In your opinion, would these be safe for me to do without any proper Cross-Fit instruction? I am pretty athletic, currently working out 4-5 days a week running and doing bodyweight strength training.
Thanks in advance!
Re: Crossfitters - advice please?
I can't get the link to load but it's probably my work network.
This is my coaches blog. She's not that great about posting but I've linked her section where she has a TON of body weight workouts.
The Self WODs are fine, but I would completely ignore the weights in there. I think they have something like 15 or 20# dumbbells for the deadlifts, which is utterly ridiculous since it's one of the heaviest lifts.
I would also google Crossfit WODs and you will find lists of differnet WODs, some with weights, some with only body weights (so you don't need equipment). As long as you watch your form, you should be okay.
Our box posts our WOD every day at 8pm. On many of the workouts, he posts scaled options (the FIT category is typically 6 months or less of Crossfit experience). There are tons of YouTube videos to coach you on the moves with proper form.
