Scottsdale Restaurant/Shops Recs

Looks like we're going to do a long weekend in Old Town Scottsdale and are looking for recommendations for must eats and shops.  I have the Fashion Mall down already, but would love to find some cute boutique shops also.

TIA

Re: Scottsdale Restaurant/Shops Recs

  • We had dinner at The Mission on a recent trip and it was really good.

  • It's been years but I liked the Old Tortilla Factory. Food was pretty good but the setting was beautiful.

Shopping - if you do consignment (and I know, it's not everyone's thing), hit up My Sister's Closet just north a mile or two from the mall. It large for a consignment store and is almost entirely higher end stuff - or at least it was a few years back.

  • I don't do Scottsdale often, but I know there's several good walkable restaurants in the Old Town/Waterfront area.(http://scottsdalewaterfrontshopping.com/scottsdale.html).  I've never been myself, but I've heard a lot of good things about Olive & Ivy and Cowboy Ciao.

And ditto to the My Sister's Closet rec, I love that store.  I actually used to work at the Phoenix location several years ago, but I still shop there quite often.  They only accept certain brands, and high quality, so if you are wanting to do a little shopping, it's a fun place to check out.

  • Thanks ladies, I'll add all of the suggestions above to my list!

  • If you enjoy sushi, I'm a big fan of Geisha-A-Go-Go.

I like Los Sombreros for Mexican food (a little bit south of the old town area).

RnR is fun for hanging out on the patio and has good food/wine.  Daily Dose is a fun spot for breakfast.  Stax for good (but tiny) burgers.

I also agree from PPs that Cowboy Ciao and Olive & Ivy are worth checking out.  Head over to Kazmierz after Cowboy Ciao (same owners) for a wine bar with a speakeasy feel.

  • I lived in Scottsdale for years some of my favorites, AZ 88, Banderas, Sugar Bowl (ice cream and sundae's, this place is a must!), Stingray for sushi, Olive and Ivy, Tortilla Factory, Z Tejas, Mastro's City Hall Steakhouse, and if you are into Thai food AT ALL you have to visit Malee's on Main.
  • Wow - it looks like I'm going to gain 10 pounds on this trip, I can't wait to try out all the restaurants!  Thanks again!

  • We loved both Scratch Pastries (awesome for breakfast) and Veneto Trattoria.
  • Olive & Ivy (near the Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall), Oregano's is a reallly really good local favorite ( inexpensive too!!!), and Wildflower Bread for lemon ricotta pancakes...yummmy.

If you go to Kierland Commons on Scottsdale Road and Frank Lloyd Wright area...eat at Zinc Bistro (my favorite) or Tommy Bahama's.

I used to live in that area, and the things I miss the most are the awesome restaurants and the Fashion Square mall....
