I hate lying liars

So, I called in some prescriptions on Monday evening.  I was out of refills, so I requested that my pharmacy fax a refill request to my doc.

Waited a few days, no confirmation call that they were ready.  At this point I was just about out of meds.  I went in on Thursday, and the pharmacy said they still hadn't received the fax back.  They faxed it again.  I said I would come in tomorrow to check on them.

Went back the next day (Friday) and they weren't ready.  I asked for them to fax it AGAIN.

I called my doctor's office this morning to make sure they responded.  They said they received a fax on Friday and returned the fax on Friday.  Uh. I said okay.  I called the pharmacy to make sure they got the fax returned from my doc.  A very brusque woman said no, they hadn't gotten the fax back.  I said are you sure?  They just told me they faxed it on Friday.  She curtly told me no... and then checked again and said oh, they got the fax this morning. I said great, would they be ready by 5:30ish when I stop by to pick them up?  She said yes, then hung up on me.

One of these offices, or both, are fishy and covering something up to hide the fact that they're lazy.  I just want to take my meds so I can sleep and NOT skip a number of days on two medications.  Is that difficult?  Do three faxes sound like I'm stuttering to you?

  • That's ridiculous and horrible.  I understand that things get busy sometimes but how hard is it to fax something?  You dial a number and then you do something else while it scans...

We fax stuff all.the.time. at my job and I hate it.  I'm not from the generation that thought faxing was completely awesome and I never think I did it right.  I usually scan to pdf and have it email to me, and then I email it to the recipient.  I feel like that's more secure anyway than some printer out in the world spitting out personal information for whomever walks by first.

Azz-backwards towns like mine, apparently.  adsakjfkasjfasjkbfjaskbfjk

Yeah WTF. My doctor's office email prescriptions now. That sounds like a crappy mess!

  • I'm really confused. If you needed the meds, I'm not sure why you'd go home and come back the next day instead of calling the doctor and waiting on the phone while they faxed it over.

Hell, I had a similar issue with my car insurance company. It took 25 minutes, three fax attempts and four phone calls but it got done.

  • I had to put the fear of God in my old mortgage lender.  I kept getting the "it's in the mail" response about my tax form, but it never was.  On my third try, I said they'd either fax it to me immediately or I'd be reporting them to the IRS.  I had it 10 minutes later.

If I need a prescription refilled, I usually call my doctor's office and skip the middleman.

    This is my siggy.

    Because...I didn't? lol

I went over to the pharmacy when I was done with work on Thursday and Friday, which is at 5 pm.  My doctor's office closes at 5 pm, apparently, and wasn't open for me to call and babysit.  It's a very small practice.

  • Oh ll, I feel you soooo hard. (Not trying to one-up you, but I've been on plenty o' meds for a bit over 2 years now.) This exact thing has happened more times than I care to recount. Essentially I've had to complain, biitch, make nice, until I found that one employee that I know I can count on. At every single doctor's office & both pharmacies I use. I now ask specifically for such&such, call enough in advance to make sure I give plenty (like iway, way too much) time for all refills. And sadly, I've had to bend to this crazy system's ways :(

Good luck for all future times (hope meds aren't necessary for too much longer), just know this is far from uncommon and I've definitely found the system to be more than flawed. It's really hard for a patient to properly 'follow-up' there's not really anyone to report to, and if there you are directed to such a person, there's no gurantee anything will happen as a result.

Just wanted to let you know again, I so know the exact frustration of which you speak.

And you are unable to place any calls before 5pm in order to be certain the pharmacy made the request, the doc confirmed, and the pharmacy received the confirmation and filled the script?

    lol

I empathize with you. I've taken medication for 14 years and will continue to do so until I die. I liked it better when my mom took care of the idiots at the pharmacy/idiots at my neurologist's office. It is the biggest pain in the butt! I can't even count how many times they've screwed up in the past 8 years since I took over communicating with these people. Angry
