F/O Make -up post

Am I the only person who does not like Urban Decay Naked?

I bought it because everyone raves about it expecting to be wowed by it.

I am less than thrilled...and i wasted all that money.

anyone else not loving it?

Re: F/O Make -up post

  • Psh. This is crazy talk. ;) I love it! I haven't worn any other eyeshadow since I got it for Christmas.

  • That seems to be everyones reaction but mine....tryingto figure out why. I have others that i love so much more.

  • I'm not a big fan of palettes. I only end up liking a couple of shades and they're so much smaller than the individual tins.
    This is my siggy.
  • what colors/color combos are you using? Do you use a primer?
  • I don't have it, but I've seen it and know it wouldn't work for me; browns are not flattering on me.  At all.

Yes, I use the primer....and Ive tried most of the colors in many combos.

i think it comes down to the glimmer in it that i dont like, and the colors dont really have much pigment on me,,,maybe it is my skin tone?

  • I don't have it, but I have no desire to have it either and I'm a make-up junkie.  It doesn't seem all that 'WOW' to me.  They are neutrals. To me, neutrals aren't anything to get all excited about.  I have enough neutrals.

    CRACKHEAD!

I absolutely love the Naked palette.  I live and die about it (considering buying Naked 2).  This was the first time I had ever purchased "good" eyeshadow and now I'm spoiled forever.

I'm SO effing mad that Sidecar is not sold separately.  When I hit the pan on that color, I'm going to cry like a baby.

I love the glitter/glimmer because I'm a 13 year old girl. The more sparkles, the better.  I always have a friend who is like "you're 30... you know.  Glitter eyeshadow and nailpolish should be an OCCASIONAL thing... not your everyday wear!".  To which I say... "kindly go fook yourself".

I'm 42 and on Fridays at work we get to wear jeans.  I usually wear a cute top, do my hair extra nice and wear a sparkly shadow!  FI and I usually go out for dinner on Friday nights, so I figure I might as well get use out of my sparkles!

I love sparkles, although I usually keep the glitter nail polish on my toes and not my fingers.

ETA:  When I say sparkles for a shadow, I'm not talking heavy metallic glitter or anything.  I have a neutral color from Smashbox called Flirt that has some glitter in it that you definitely can see, but people aren't like "OMG, Morty is wearing glitter on her eyes!".

I have an issue where I INSTANTLY gravitate toward any nailpolish that has glitter in it.  The sad part is that it kind of just falls off my nails :(  But it makes me SO happy.  I have a friend who is a 7th grade teacher who is having a REALLY tough time with one of her period classes.  She decided (because of me) that doing her nails glitter would make her happy- she could just look at the sparkles and forget she's surrounded by azzhole kids. And she said it TOTALLY worked!

YAY GLITTER!  I think I was a stripper in a past life.

  • Usually polish with glitter in it lasts forever on my nails.  I'm surprised it doesn't stay on longer for you.

I have some OPI for Sephora polish that I got last year called Merry Me.  It's red and silver glitter and very holiday-ish.  It lasts forever on my nails and it's actually really hard to take off.

I like Sidecar too! Tainted is the one I use the most though. I will be so sad when I'm out of that one.

  • Imoan, you are like my sister from another mister right now.

I just recently acquired the Naked 2 palette, and I might love it even more than the first!

Morty- I have VERY weird nails.  I essentially can NEVER keep polish on them.  And glitter is the worst (and yes, I use the good nailpolish. This isn't the Wet & Wild brand... I'm talking OPI, Essie, etc).  I will do my nails (and yes, I do alllll the tricks, use a rubberized base coat so it should be grabby, a no chip top coat, etc) at 9pm... and at 7:30 the next morning- i'm losing entire nails of polish.

I FINALLY found a base coat and top coat that seem to be working better for me (China Glaze's Strong Adhesion base coat and Essie's No Chips top coat).

I used to get acrylic nails done.  It didn't matter where I went... by the next day- full nails would just be popping off like I had gone to CVS and put on the Lee Press-On Nails.
