How can i avoid this make up problem?
I recently went from glasses to contacts and my eyes can't hide anymore and I am seeing a lot of lines. Boo. Anyway whenever I put on my foundation whether it is powder or liquid, it tends to make my fine lines look worse. I am 33 btw.
Can you recommend a primer or something that I can do to avoid this?
Also what is the most effective way of dealing with fine lines? I want to age gracefully (no botox or plastic surgery) but I also want to take good care of my skin.
Thanks so much!
Re: How can i avoid this make up problem?
I have this problem with my under eyes - my concealer used to cake.
I've heard its a lack of moisture that causes it to happen. So I would suggest moisturizing more in general and right before you put on your foundation.
I agree with bethbloom, moisturize well before you put on your foundation or even if you don't.
You may want to look into Retin-A for the fine lines with a dermatologist.
To get to the new skin underneather faster, exfoliate once or twice a week. Drink lots of water all the time.
I use Urban Decay primer for my eyes and face. I think maybe using an illuminator with your foundation may help minimize the look of the lines. It makes your foundation less matte and more dewy. If you're interested, check out my blog post for today since I talk about foundation, etc.

Hi, I'm new here! I'm a mom of two and kind of a makeup freak...
I don't know what kind of foundation you use, but I have found the more expensive brands leave the lines much less noticeable. Both MAC concealer and Lancome's Teint Idole Ultra foundation go on very smooth and do not accentuate fine lines the way some other brands do. You can go to the counter for a color match and free sample ,that way you can try it out and see what you think before buying. Of course, a great eyecream helps (I haven't found one I totally love yet though). As far as preventative care, I always apply a thin layer of Aquaphor under my eyes at night to help keep the area moisturized.
