political encounter on my morning commute

There's usually all kinds of random political/advocacy groups or protesters outside of the train station (pro-vegans, pro-coal, pro-hand sanitizer, and my favorite, the ever-constant anti-abortion truck) but this morning there was a group wearing 'remove Obama' sandwich boards that had a photo of the president with a (for lack of a better descriptor) 'hitler mustache' photo shopped on his face.

They tried to hand me a newsletter but I refused.  I should have taken it, torn it up, and handed the pieces back to them.

Re: political encounter on my morning commute

  • If I were you, I would've came up with like 5 amazing comebacks on my way into work.  And then I'd come on PCE and claim I used at least one of them.

    You're better than me.

  • There have been a couple of frat boy type guys with stupid smirks on their faces who have this exact sandwich board on the sidewalk outside the post office in my town (I live in MA - do you?) - they are there a few times a year - my recollection is that this has been going on for at least 3 years (obviously not prior to his inauguration but very shortly thereafter)
  • There were a bunch of waving, sign holding Rick Santorum supporters standing on a busy intersection in town this weekend.  Even a "Women for Rick" sign which kind of made me chuckle.  I was making a right turn and was in clear view of one old guy holding a "I'm for Rick" sign and waving like mad at me.  I just slowly shook my head...I told DH when I got home and he's was surprised I didn't run anybody over.

  • Ha, I was thinking of all kinds of comebacks on my walk to the office.  I wish I could come up with them in the moment, though!

I'm a former MA resident - this happened in DC this morning.

  • Probably the La Rouche people.  They like to hang outside of the DMVs around here.

Nothing beats the anti abortion guy that hung out one summer, during the daily commutes, wearing overalls and holding a pitchfork with baby doll heads on the tines, with 'abortion is murder' signs around him... it was just effing creepy.

Dude. The La Rouche people are harder to get rid of than JWs.

Yeah, if I had the time and inclination I'd love to set up a table near them giving away tin foil hats, custom fit available! haha!

Down here they have a lot of Obama killed the space program stuff and all the hitler photos and as I worked at Nasa for a long time, I was almost tempted to say something but realized my time was far too valuable to waste on them.

My God.  Is he still alive?

Or do they just go on and on without him, like zombies who don't know their head has fallen off?
