Can I get some dog distance reiki?
I think my dog has TMJ. Is that even foffing possible? My dogs get the most random and obscure health issues.
Poor Duke has been having jaw problems for the last month or two. When he yawns, his mouth gets stuck open for a second, and sometimes when he yawns first thing in the morning he yelps in pain. It's the saddest thing. And he's getting to the point where he won't play tug, and he has trouble taking treats from us, so I think he's in a good bit of pain.
We've talked to the vet about it, and she just said "wow, dogs don't really get jaw problems. this is weird." She didn't even have an idea of what could be happening.
So, we're getting his teeth cleaned and some skin tags removed tomorrow, and they're going to take some x-rays since he'll already be under anesthesia. I'm just hoping that they'll be able to tell us what's happening, and how to fix it. I'm afraid they're going to just say sorry, it's something he has to live with. Blerg. Wish us luck.

I hope they can either find something easily fixable or that it goes away on its own very quickly.
Poor Duke. First he and his sister get beat in MM and now this? Can't a dog catch a break?
Hope they are able to figure out what is wrong tomorrow.

Munchie gets some weird jaw stuff, too, but it hasn't stopped her from playing or eating so they said to just keep an eye on it. Hope they have a quick fix!

I know it sounds weird and new agey, but depending on what your vet says, maybe you can get a second opinion with a vet who does some holistic complementary therapies? Loving Touch Animal Center is great. I take Rufus in for acupuncture every so often and it does help him. We go to the Stone Mountain location, but they have an office in Midtown as well.
