Can I do a gray couch and gray walls?
We have a gray sectional and will be replacing our ugly mint green carpet soon (not sure what color yet, will decide after I pick wall color, probably). Walls are white for now, but obviously I want to pick a wall color that goes with new carpet. I keep coming back to gray because I want to decorate with lovely light blues and greens, almost pastel, that I think would really pop on a pale gray wall. But we have a large gray sectional (that floats in the middle of the room). Obviously I wouldn't get a gray that matched it perfectly, but do you think it would gray walls and gray couch would be gray overload?

It seems like with gray furniture, they show lighter, non-gray walls. And with other (non-gray) color furniture they show gray walls.
So, with gray sofas, I'd go with a non-gray wall color. Actually, some of these rooms are really nice looking. Maybe a starting place for ideas...
I think so. The wall and couch need to be a different shade of gray or add a couple of accent chairs. Maybe even see if you can find a blue gray paint that you like.

I have both, and a grey area rug. The couch is much darker than the walls and rug though. I love it.
however, I have a lot of other color going on. chartreuse and purple pillows, a purple accent wall, wood floors, art everywhere. keep the annoying/expensive to change things grey, then you can go color crazy!
A girl who's on TN just did it and I think it looks great. I just saw it on her blog, and the accent pillows really make the look.

This was right after we moved into our last house, so there are no accessories, but you can see what a lighter color looks like with a darker couch. The walls are SW Sandbar.
For this and this, the sofa and wall color are nearly identical IRL.

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
This is what I want to do! I love color. I want ice blue curtains and yellows and such. Our couch is a medium gray, not dark. I'm thinking a blueish gray would work. Now I just have to figure out what color to do the carpet.
No beige whatever you do! The grey paint in my house carries upstairs into the hallway. We have carpet upstairs, its cream colored, and i pretty much hate it with the grey. It's seen better days though and needs to be replaced soon.
I'm hoping to replace it with a very light grey, a few shades lighter than the walls. more cool neutrals.
Well, if not beige, what? I think I have to do a beige or taupe. I can't do gray couch gray walls and gray carpet.
