so I got some cute leather Nine West flats in a cognac color at The Rack (it was a very successful day for me!) kind of like these. I realized when I got home this was my first step into that color realm. Anyway, I'd like to get a bag in a similar color and was hoping you guys could help me decide what to do.
Do you only buy bags in leather?
My dilemma: expensive investment vs. cheaper with a shorter life
The main reason I ask is because I got a bag that I absolutely love from Nine West on sale, but one of the handles is already breaking. It makes me so sad and I'm still trying to figure out if there is something I can do to fix it. Anyway, I guess it made me question whether I should keep buying leather-type purses for under $50 or spend more on a leather purse. In general I like to try to find deals and not spend a lot, but I am willing to splurge on items that are really worth it.
If you think I should get a leather bag, what is a reasonable price? I love Kate Spade bags for example, but I'm not looking for that price range just yet (I do want one in the future though!). Can I find something that is nice for closer to $100? Any suggestions?
thanks!
Re: help me break into cognac/a couple of purse ?s
You could always try a nicer bag second-hand. I get lots of great things at consignment stores and I've had good luck on eBay, as well. Most of my designer stuff is thrifted.
PS - cute flats!

I've found really nice quality leather handbags at TJ Maxx, and you can also find quality handbags at 6pm.com, ebags.com, and zappos.com that are reasonably priced. I agree with the above poster who posted a couple Tignanallo bags. Tig is a quality brand with reasonable prices.
I don't always buy leather handbags, but when I buy something inexpensive and made of faux leather, I don't expect it to last more than a season.
that's a good idea, I totally forgot about looking at consignment (I love going to Goodwill etc, but they don't usually have bags, I'll have to try one of the 'nicer' consignment places). thanks!

thanks for the Fossil recommendation - I guess not all leather is created equal so I guess I shouldn't assume if it's leather it will actually last longer (and I have had plenty of non-leather bags do quite well), but it's nice to know if you think a particular brand does well (and has an outlet!).
now I can't wait to find one...!
