How many shoes...

and I know usually you can never have enough, but I have to limit it.  I'm trying to figure out packing for an 18 day trip to Europe.  It will be anywhere from 50s to 70s (or that's what I'm anticipating) and it'll be a lot of walking.

I'm thinking 2 pairs of boots: SM Intyce in Cognac and flat black boots (they're just a smidge below my knee) and 3 pairs of flats (I've worn all of these for my daily commute and feel like they're be comfy): TB Revas

these Coach (in gold):

and these Pumas:

WDYT: practical? good base? Add or remove?

ETA: to save on packing space, I plan on wearing one pair of boots on our flying days, so I only have to pack one in my suitcase

Re: How many shoes...

  • I like what you have so far, but I would bring a pair of heels or wedges in case you want to go out to dinner or something so you have something to dress up your look.

I really like those Pumas, btw.

  • I think it sounds pretty good, except I'd delete the flat black boots. Cognac boots go with pretty much anything. The addition of 1 pair of nicer shoes for dinner is good, too.
  • I'm a shoe-lover, but I think that's a little too many.  18 days and 6 pairs of shoes (if you take one dress shoe)?  I also prefer to pack light and take a bag I can easy wheel around.  18 days is a long trip, but IMO it's no so long that you can't stick with one color scheme (i.e. brown or black).

I think the two pairs of athletic-type flats are redundant and I probably would only take one pair of boots since they will take up the most space.  JMO!

  • It doesn't seem like too many to me. I agree with bringing a pair of heels if you think you'll go out to dinner or something nice.
  • I think 6 is too many too.  Definitely get rid of the black boots and 2 flats and add a pair of dressy heels b/c you just never know.  That leaves you with the SM Intyce, Revas, heels and a pair of flats.  I'm a light packer so I wouldn't take that many shoes on a 2 month vacation!

Thanks; they're Puma Zandy in birch.  I ended up getting them on Amazon for $34! (the price had fluxuated, I originally saw them at $34, then they went up to $60-something and then dropped back to $34)
  • For an 18 day vacation, I would pack two pairs of walking shoes, a pair of sneakers and a pair of dress shoes.
  • Boots take up SO much space -- I would only bring one pair (and like you, I'd wear them on the plane both ways).

Then I'd probably bring 1-2 more pairs of daytime walking shoes (probably only one) and 1-2 pairs of shoes that I could wear at night.  But how many pairs of night shoes would depend on plans -- if we're going to be going out to casual places I could probably wear my boots or ballet flats (my walking shoes don't look like walking shoes), but to fancy dinners/clubs/etc. I'd want to wear fancier shoes.  So if the trip was fancy-heavy, I'd want 2 pairs of fancy shoes instead of 1.

  • I don't know your itinerary, but if I was going to Europe I would likely being doing some day hiking so I'd want a pair of trail runners/sneakers. I'd skip a pair of boots and one of the flats.
  • Thanks for the input; sneakers are a no-go for me.

I think you're all right one the boots.  I'll wear my SM intyce on the plane, bring the Revas, Pumas and Coach flats which I can walk in comfortably.  My thought/philosophy is that no matter how comfy the show, when you do a ton of walking it will be uncomfortable at some point, thus trying to have 3 pairs of flats to switch off.  I made throw in my nude Target Peace pumps for a neutral evening option. Thanks!

This all sounds perfect. Definitely pack the pumps! :)
