Disney for 6 people in 1 room

Hi Everyone! My family and I are planning a trip to Disney in December and are trying to determine where to stay. We are a group of 6 (4 adults, 1 5 year old and 1 2 year old) and we want to stay in one room/suite. We don't mind sharing space, but are hoping it wouldn't be too uncomfortable (i.e. I don't want to climb over tons of stuff to move around).

I would love to stay somewhere that is at least somewhat conveniently located to decent transportation, somewhere family-oriented (not one of the hotels that gets filled with high school group) and somewhere with some non-pool amenities in it's too cold to swim. Also, we are definitely staying on-site. I would love any recommendations! Thanks :)

Re: Disney for 6 people in 1 room

  • I just got back last week from Disney World. We stayed, 5 adults, in the grand villa in Saratoga Springs. It was such a great experience. There were 3 bedrooms. Two had two double beds and showers, and one master bedroom. There was a very spacious living room, dining room, and kitchen. It was also very close to the bus stop. I recommend this very highly!!! Hope you have a blast!

  • We stayed at the Broadwalk.  We had a 2 bedroom/2 bath 'condo'.  One room had a king.  The other 2 doubles.  The living room had a pull out.   The kitchen and laundry were great to have.

  • We're going in October/November and are staying in the Treehouse Villas at Saratoga Springs. Each one is an independent condo, of sorts, with three bedrooms (two with queens, one with bunk beds), two bathrooms, a living room, dining area, and a kitchen, as well as washer/dryer. In addition, there's apparently a nice outdoor space. Friends of ours stay in the Treehouses quite frequently and rave about them.

We're going with family and will have 6 people in each of two Villas. We're looking forward to being able to make some meals at the Villas rather than eating out all the time, having living space so that we don't all have to go to bed at the same time, and bedrooms for everyone so that no one's sleeping in the living room.

  • I love my family but I'd want my own space.
  • Marriott Vacation clubs have multiple bedrooms with a living room and kitchen.  There are several in Orlando close to the parks.  Grande Vista and Cypress Harbor are two of them.
  • Anywhere with a 2 bedroom suite would be great for you.  Old Key West and Saratoga Springs are probably the least conveniently located, the others are all located closer to at least 1 park.  Beach Club and Boardwalk are within walking distance to Epcot and you could find some extra things to do along the Boardwalk.  Bay Lake Tower and Wilderness Lodge are really close to the Magic Kingdom- Bay Lake Tower is on the monorail line too so it would be really convenient for Magic Kingdom and Epcot (and walkable to Magic Kingdom.)  And the Animal Kingdom Lodge is obviously close to the Animal Kingdom.  The kids would probably really like the Savannahs there.  I would go with either Bay Lake Tower for convenience or Animal Kingdom Lodge for the extras!

  • use a Disney Vacation Club member's points to get a great rate on a 1 or 2 bedroom villa at places like animal kingdom lodge, wilderness lodge, contemporary resort bay lake tower, etc.

    dvc-rental.com

we've used them before and were very happy with the service. you get an official DVC reservation email and everything.

  • Thanks for the advice everyone! Lots to consider :)

  • It might be different with kids, but we determined it was about the same/cheaper to get 3 rooms instead of a 2bd condo, since we'll have 5 adults.

Depending on when you're going, they're also opening a new resort in the fall that is suites/villas as well.

  • You could do a villa at DVC resort or suite at All Stars or Art of Animation. If you have a child with you that is under 3 they do not count in the total number so it would be a room for 5! You also might be able to Port Orleans Riverside in one of the sections that have murphy beds but it will be a tight fit! You probably are best with villa!
