Minimalist shoes for general walking around

It gets HOT here in GA. I love the Teva flip flops I live in during the summer, but sometimes I want tennis shoes if I am going to be walking all day. I have some Asics that I wear for general "walking around"/running errands/etc, but they are really hot. I am wondering if minimalist shoes would be cooler. Any ideas or thoughts? If not minimalist running/walking shoes, are there any other ideas. I already own 10 pairs of said Teva flip flops, regular Tevas, some "water" shoes, and a few other cooler shoes.

(Disclaimer: Of course I always go to my LRS to get fitted for my "fitness" walking shoes.)

Re: Minimalist shoes for general walking around

  • I'm also in the south so I'm familiar with the heat issue. I tend to wear Birkenstocks for all-day walking. I find they have more support than tevas, and they're a lot cooler than sneakers. I also have a couple of pairs of mesh shoes from rockport that I wear when I want more coverage. they go in the washing machine so I can keep them from getting too gross.

  • I love the Nike Free's. I wore them in Brazil this summer (DH on the otherhand was wearing the Teva's). I love them for travel becuase they're so light.
The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.
  • I wear Merrells that have been discontinued, but their new "barefoot" line looks comparable to my old shoes.  I also wear Keen Venice style shoes for something that is more like a sandal, but with support.  I have PF so my feet get cranky.
  • I really like Merrell Trail Gloves. They look like regular tennis shoes, but they're light, breathable and awesome.

  • I just got these: http://www.altrazerodrop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_-1_15151_18952_69007_192169 (sorry not clickable) and really like them. They're light and airy.
