I've been doing bootcamp for almost a year and within the past month I've had horrible pain going down my left leg starting at almost my butt. I did go to see my primary care doc who said it's sciaticia and that I should be taking an over the counter med (advil, tylonal, etc) and that'll help the tingling go away.
Does anyone have any other suggestions? I've been doing the OTC stuff for about 2 weeks and while it's helped a bit it's still there. I have a follow up next month about it.
Re: Sciaticia anyone?
OTC's didnt work for me so I ended up with an RX for a steriod pack. I am starting to notice a difference and hoping I am on the right track.
(tweaked ligament or muscle in my lumbar area, all discs are fine in my case.)
Good luck, hope you find relief soon!
Ditto the chiropractor. Mine was a tremendous help. Also, stay active. I am able to almost completely control mine and prevent flare-ups by staying active. Bike-riding is the only exercise I'm aware of that is not recommended during a flare-up, since it locks your pelvis in place and can exacerbate the pain.
Also, get a good foam roller and use it regularly. It hurts soooo good and has been invaluable. Good luck--sciatic is a mother!
Ice really helps me when mine acts up, numbs it up and really helps with the pain
