I interviewed with two companies last Thursday, #1 was a panel interview and I have been working with that recruiter for almost two months now, #2 was a phone interview and just started the interview process. Luckily, I am working with a head hunter/recruiter on job #2 and he let them know I was also interviewing with #1 and that we expected to hear about an offer early this week. #2 first scheduled a face to face with me today, but then pushed to Friday so that the entire team could be there. I know they are interested in me, especially if they are bringing the whole team to this second interview.
I really want #2 over #1. I just got a call from #1's recruiter. He said that he wanted to get my feedback of the interview and talk about the next steps. IF there is an offer, I want to ask for time to think it over so I can get to Friday's interview and get a good read on that. #2 has said they want to move quickly and I also know that they are having trouble finding qualified candidates. Personally, I think I am perfect for the job, but who knows. ![]()
Just looking for some quick advice/pep talk before I call #1 back. These are two of the biggest employers in my industry in this town. So I don't want to burn any bridges by any means. It's an eggshell situation that I have never gone through before and hoping you can give me some good advice.
FWIW, #1 is more entry level, I could do the job with my eyes closed, but wouldn't be happy. #2 is perfect for what I can bring to the table as well as me being satisfied with my job and growth opportunities.
TIA!
Re: Advice Please! (also posted to MM)
Well, I am going to write a follow up to this in case anyone was interested. I just spoke with the recruiter for #1....they do want to pursue me as their candidate and the next steps are doing reference checks. So hopefully that will buy me some time to get to the end of the week for my #2 interview.
He did ask if I was pursuing any other opportunities at this time and I was honest and let him know that I have been asked to interview elsewhere since we had last spoke. He asked if I was taking the first offer or how I was basing my decision and I explained that I would want to know the terms of the job before I made any decisions.
Whew...never played the field for jobs before. Still wouldn't mind some advice for this process and dealing with the possibility of multiple offers, etc.
Both these situations sound good. Personally, I love the phrase, "I want to make an informed decision, since this is such an important job opportunity. Would it be okay with you if I had a few days to think this through? I can get back to you by XYZ."
I think it shows honesty, organization, and thoughtfulness that you take decisions seriously.
