Disney Questions - Timing

We are considering a trip to Disneyworld in December.  My husband is a teacher so unfortunately the times we can go are limited to his school calendar.  I know around the holidays in December are crazy busy, but does anyone know if the crowd dies down a bit after January 1st?

We will have a 4 year old and 18-month old with us.  How many days do you think you "need" at Disney?  We would would probably want to go to Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Animal Kingdom.

And other tips and tricks you can provide would be appreciated!  Thanks!

    I have never been, but for our trip in Oct we are following this blog's guidelines as far as avoiding crowds is concerned.  It is pretty detailed as far as which park to visit on which day and why.  He hasn't updated for Jan 2013 but looking at the 2012 recommendations might help.

    Technically you could do one park each day, but with LOs who might need a nap I'd do a minimum of 2 days at Magic Kingdom and one day at each of the other parks.

    Oh, also check out allears.net and disboards.com  they are both excellent resources.  We also found that using the Unofficial Guide to Disney Touring Plans (or available on TouringPlans.com) saved us a lot of time waiting in lines.

    Yes, the crowd levels drop after the 1st- as do the prices and the chances they will offer a promotion.  I would rather go in the summer than go between Christmas and New Years though.  With 2 little kids i would plan 2 days at Magic Kingdom, 2 days at Epcot, and 1 day at Animal Kingdom (Hollywood Studios is also with 1 day!)

    We went in mid-January (around MLK Day) and it was fabulous in terms of crowds.

    Personally I like to give 1 day per park. So I would do all 4 across 4 days, with 1 extra day built in for relaxing or flexibility. 

    Also, we added 1 day to go visit Harry Potter world at Universal :)

    When we went for the first time, we did 2 days at Magic Kingdom, 1 at Epcot and 1 and AK. We did a super full day at MK and then the next day did 3/4 of a day which gave us time to go back to the hotel, hang by the pool and catch dinner somewhere not Disneyfied!
