Yep and when I was living in the UK I had to go into the Embassy in London to vote!

I think you only have to vote if you are a citizen, not just a resident. I never voted when I was just a permanent resident and never got a fine. I was only able to vote when I became a citizen.
What the hell.
Whatevs, at least they don't let their citizens go bankrupt and die because of lack of healthcare.
