  • Doctor Sears is a fearmongering blowhard. That's what I have to say about him.

  • Yep.  and you can only guess who on my FB posted about how horrible this is.  Same person who is promoting elimination communication.

  • Oh barf.  Ugh.

After the whooping cough outbreak that killed several kids when Evie was a baby, and the measles (I think) outbreak that killed several other kids just a few years before that, you'd think people would have started ignoring him. But no! Double ugh.

  • No, I think he is just becoming more popular.  My little sister LOVES him.

  • That and the whole thing where they've never found a shred of evidence that vaccines are dangerous, and the one bogus study has been thoroughly discredited. You'd think that would make an impact, wouldn't you?

"The meek shall inherit the earth" isn't about children. It's about deer. We're all going to get messed the fuckup by a bunch of cloned super-deer.- samfish2bcrab

Sometimes I wonder if scientists have never seen a sci-fi movie before. "Oh yes, let's create a super species of deer. NOTHING COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG." I wonder if State Farm offers a Zombie Deer Attack policy. -CaliopeSpidrman
  • Yes, that too. Crazypants.

Evie got sick before she was old enough for her first vaccinations and I had to run her in to be tested for whooping cough since we had outbreaks here. And we were kind of vaccination hardasses, we made all our relatives who were coming to visit get the whooping cough booster before they came.

  • I am "pro" vaccine. I believe all children should have the best that is available to protect them.

Apparently there are new studies. They haven't actually been published in any kind of reputable medical journal, but that doesn't stop the anti-vaxers from citing them as gospel. The latest craze is the supposed link between the Heb B vaccine and a higher rate of Autism in boys.

I don't get how people can ignore so much proof they work and put the people they love at risk.  **Palm-to-forehead** geez!

  • There was a girl on my FB who was over-the-top anti-vaccine. As in 20 posts per day. I ended up de-friending her.

I don't have kids, but I loathe the anti-vaccine arguments, particularly the ones routed in some sort of "freedom to choose" principle. Sure, you have the freedom to choose not to vaccinate your child, but what about the rest of the population? Do we get the freedom to choose not to get some nasty mutant disease from your kid?

  • I also de-friended someone on FB for anti-vax sentiments.

I've had both pertussis (that I caught after taking care of someone's unvaccinated spawn before they started recommending Tdap boosters for adults) and the flu as an adult, and they were no joke.  Now I get all the boosters, I get the flu vaccine, and my kid will be vaccinated according to the AAP schedule.

    We, we like to party.

Oh no now the Hep B!  Ugh.  Tony is friends with old dude he used to work with who retired and move to Thailand so he could have all the hookers he wanted.  He came back with Hep B and said that everyone over there has it so it's no big deal.

So these anti Vac people should just move to a 3rd world country where everyone has Hep and no one gets vaccinated.

  • I'm pro-vaccine, and I don't understand how/why people are against them.

That being said, I don't like legislation like this.  If you want to make vaccines mandatory, then make a law that does that. If it's the parents choice to vaccinate/not vaccinate, then let it be the parents choice.  Don't use some other law that was written with a huge loophole to let doctors have the final say.
