Question about the French Laundry
So, DH and I have reservations in two weeks. I am excited to go and have a wonderful foodie experience, however, I was wondering what they do in terms of substitutions, if they will even accomodate this? I ask because I am 6 months pregnant, and am not supposed to eat things like raw oysters/caviar etc. I dont want to have to resort to the vegetable tasting menu just because I may not be able to eat a couple things. What do you think?
Re: Question about the French Laundry
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.

I'd just give them a quick call in advance to make sure they're prepared - you don't want to go all that way and spend all that money, and then find out they're struggling to accommodate you.
Also, note the vegetable tasting menu isn't vegetarian, and that with the actual menu there are many courses where you have a choice of one dish or another so it may be easier to make selections that fit your dietary restrictions, but there is obviously the signature dish they serve of oysters & pearls, and that sounds off-limits.
Enjoy! You will love it - DH and I are thinking about going back in a few months.
