Can anyone offer any thoughts/insight on this region of Germany?
We are planning a 10-day, September trip to Europe. It will be our first time there. We haven't totally nailed down our destinations yet, but we're thinking about splitting our time between Paris and Mosel Valley, Germany. My husband has an interest in German culture, and I'm intrigued by the small town atmosphere, castles, Roman history (Trier), and wine in this region.
Has anyone been? Did you love it? How many days there would be appropriate? What town did you use as a base?
Thanks!
Re: Mosel Valley, Germany
I like that area. It's beautiful and the small towns are nice. Last year we spent a weekend in Cochem and it's a great town. It's about halfway between Trier and Koblenz. I went to Trier years ago, but all I remember is the shopping.
Not sure how many days to recommend, depends on what you want to do. There should be some wine fests going on during that time, so I would try to find one and use that area as a base. I believe there's a big one in Luxemburg at that time, too.
