Turtle Bay Resort, Oahu - WDYT of this deal?

From LivingSocial (http://www.livingsocial.com/escapes/289574-north-shore-resort?msdc_id=868-roseville-folsom-ca)

So the deal is $899 for:

A 3-Night Stay in an Ocean View Room with an Upgrade to an Oceanfront Room if available Daily Breakfast for Two All-Day Snorkeling for Two $100 Resort Credit 2 p.m. Late Checkout, Daily Valet Parking, and Daily Resort Fees Included $25 in Deal Bucks, Compliments of the New Honda CR-V

Seems like a pretty fab deal to me, plus I've been wanting to check this resort out for awhile now.  Thinking of adding it on to our Hawaii vacay this September...

Anyone stay there? Think it's a good deal?

Re: Turtle Bay Resort, Oahu - WDYT of this deal?

  • We stayed there for DHs 30th bday but only bc he worked for the hospitality company that managed it and we got 50% off of everything. It was nice, but there really isn't much else around it besides the resort. We rented a car so it wasn't a huge deal to us but if you're looking for nightlife type of place it isn't it. It was a very beautiful property and the staff we very nice.
  • Staying at Turtle Bay was my favorite part of our week on Oahu. I think it sounds like a great deal. The North Shore is so different from Wakiki and Honolulu.
  • Never stayed there, but I would love to.  I think I would jump all over that deal, I love the North Shore.
  • I've stayed there a couple times on kama'aina rates so that deal doesn't blow me away, but I think in general it's a good one.

  • I think it's a decent deal. However, I visited the grounds of Turtle Bay Resort a couple years ago and was really quite disappointed with it considering the price they charge for rooms. It wasn't a dive by any means, but it hadn't been kept up as much as I expected. I think the room price is dictated by being the only hotel in that particular area, rather than the niceness of the resort.

This- we visited and had lunch on their beach (picnic) during our honeymoon as I really really wanted to stay there but couldn't justify the prices. I was utterly disappointed with the hotel (we even viewed some rooms because I was curious). The staff were great but I was much happier with our choice (Marriott in Ko Olina). There really wasn't much around and you would have to have car hire to make it a viable option (unless you wanted ot ride The Bus which isn't that bad)

  • We always rent a car when we go to Hawaii, and are not big nightlifers, so being in a secluded area wouldn't be a problem.  Plus I really like the North Shore, wouldn't mind exploring it more.

It's not a crazy deal, but when you take into the account all the add-ons, I think it's pretty good.  Oh well, I have 6 days left to make up my mind...

    Thanks girls :)

  • Seems like a good deal with the add ons based on what we paid a few years ago. I would check to see if the resort credit can be used for food prior to booking. We really enjoyed the seculsion and driving around the north shore. I think if you are staying there and another location then it is a good mix of the island.

  • I love staying on the north shore and it's a decent price considering all that's included. I'd go for it.

we had great luck staying at the condos at turtle bay... "north shore villas" - this isn't the exact one we stayed in but this is the same complex, next door to turtle bay and with a pool and beach access:

I know, those villas are really nice.  I've considered renting one of them through VRBO before too.
