News poll: where do you get yours?

Just out of curiosity, where do you get most of your news?

Websites? Which?

Political bloggers?

Magazines or newspapers?

Other?

Re: News poll: where do you get yours?

  • I'm asking because for the last 2 weeks it seems I am getting most of my news, along with running commentary, here. It's actually simplified some of the current issues I am following- from Kony to Treyvon Martin to the Republican candidates.

I also listen to a lot of satellite talk radio in the car during the day. Ed Shultz, Thom Hartman, Stephanie Miller...

  • My regular roundup: Politico, Drudge Report, NPR, National Review, Reason, social media--both friends and journalists/pundits on twitter, random stuff DH sends me, and definitely this board.
Can't find me on the nest anymore.

    Find me here instead!
  • Main source  is The Economist. I don't read a ton of news online, mostly stuff I get pointed to from here.

  • New York Times, Bloomberg News & CNBC mostly during the day.

Just CBS news at night usually

  • MSNBC, CNN, The Daily Beast, Politico, Huff Post, used to go to NYT until that damns paywall, now I go to WaPo.

  • NPR, AP & CNN News Alerts on my phone, and this board daily. Daily Show and Rachel Maddow often, but not daily.

  • Mostly here, honestly.

Sometimes cnn.com or bbc.com. I used to listen to npr a lot, but lately I really don't have the time.

Yes to Daily Show as well. Bummed this week is repeats with so much going on.

  • It sounds terrible but I get most of my national news from osmosis. Most of my close friends work in US politics/policy so I just glom things from them. I mean, I look for more information if something piques my interest, but in terms of "this happened today" I just kind of hear about it. When I'm outside the US I tend to get really disconnected from US news.

I have a bunch of really random specialized blogs in my google reader (Sahel Blog, what's up!) and I get a lot of news from ForeignPolicy.com. Oh and I watch a lot of the foreign TV channels, partly for news/analysis and partly for entertainment. Al-Jazeera being an example of the former, Ethiopian TV and Russia Today the latter :)

For local news I read blogs and neighborhood listservs. Because WaPo SUCKS at covering things happening in Washington.

"We tend to be patronizing about the poor in a very specific sense, which is that we tend to think,
  • I seem to get most of mine from Facebook (I "follow" CNN and other news sites and have quite a few politically active friends) and this board.  Embarrassed

  • NPR and whatever people post here.
  • Here, lol. I also check out google news every morning when I get to work and go wherever that takes me.  Sometimes I check out Washington Post, sometimes CNN, sometimes bbcnews.  It varies.

  • NPR, Maddow, and some special interest blogs, mostly for feminist and skeptical/science issues.

Oh, and of course this board.

ETA, NPR includes BBC's The World.

  • Al Jazeera, Politico. Daily Kos.
  • cnn, huff po, npr, msnbc, sirius talk radio which includes thom hartman, ed schultz, and mark thompson. and of course here because pce equals awesome.

  • Yahoo News and this board.
A big old middle finger to you, stupid Nest.
  • Mainly, I watch/listen to Morning Joe on MSNBC almost every day for political news. I look at cnn.com, msnbc.com periodically throughout the work day. I go to Huffington post. I watch the Nightly News a few times a week. That is about it.

DD#2 lost in January 2012 at 23 weeks due to anhydramnios caused by a placental abruption
  • NPR, CNN.com.  I also tend to breeze the MSN front page, and if there's a story that catches my attention, I'll Google it.  I like reading the local coverage when I can find it.

  • Oh!  And forgetting may be a sign of how it's changed since Daily Beast took it over, but I get Newsweek.  I wouldn't say it's how I get my news, though, and lately I've been so underwhelmed by the analysis I may not resubscribe.

I think Newsweek and TDB run too much together now that it's hard to tell them apart.

I forgot to name Morning Joe. I love that show and have to watch it sneakily while DH is in the shower or after he leaves b/c he thinks it's just a bunch of liberals spouting off. He's never seen it.

  • I get a lot of my news from here - posters on this board tend to be quick with posting links to breaking stories etc.

I also get a lot of information from NPR in the mornings, CNN's website but sometimes that takes work to sort through the fluff ha, and my AP app on my phone. I use my NYTimes app occasionally but not that frequently.
