Hello (Bonjour!) French nesties or folks who know a lot more about France than I do.
I'm looking for somewhere to go for a short trip over Easter vacation since DH will have to work. Are French schools/jobs on vacation between April 5 and 16th? I'm trying to decide if it's a good idea or not. I say France since I know Spain will be crazy that week.
Merci! I need a break from Spain.
Re: Easter week in France
I haven't come up to speed on the level of Easter-celebrating here yet, but I can tell you that schools are only closed on Monday after Easter. The scheduled school break for April doesn't begin until the 14th and lasts two weeks-ish, including the "puente" for the May 1st holiday.
We were looking at going to Arles in Provence for Easter until some friends from the U.S. decided to come visit us in Paris. It looks like there's a lot going on in Arles for holy week, but maybe that's too much activity for you?
The schools in our region are on holidays from the 20th of April to the 7th of May.
Where are you thinking of going?
Great! Sounds like you guys have the week after us.
I haven't yet thought about where to go. It should be more or less in the south though, 4-5 hrs from Bilbao. We've been to Biarritz and St-Jean-De-Luz as well as Lourdes. I really enjoyed the villages in the Pyrenees so we might just head there to relax.
I am about to PM you about the French Basque country since we're planning a trip there on the way to San Fermin.
