How do you find a place to weigh your moving truck?
We are moving to D.C. this weekend and I have no idea where to have my truck weighed, does anyone have any suggestions? We will be in Northern Virginia if anyone has a specific recommendation, but how do you find this out in general?
I'm a little nervous to ask at the truck rental since the place I picked up the truck sent me on a wild goose chase to find a scale to weigh it before we filled it.
Thanks for any insight, this is our first PCS.
Re: How do you find a place to weigh your moving truck?
I used to have a link saved long ago that I found on one of the DoD webpages that helped you to find a truck scale near you. I've no idea where that link is now.
Basically, though, you want to find a truck scale. Any place that is certified by your state to weigh vehicles should work. They are usually found at/near truck stops and occasionally moving companies will have them.
Here's a little info. on weight tickets as well. http://usmilitary.about.com/cs/assignments/a/ditymove_2.htm
I dug up this link for scale locations but I cannot testify to its accuracy in your area.

Huh, never even thought of that. Do they usually stamp certified weight tickets?
