What are you r top 5 or 10 things to do/see in NYC?

We are there for three nights and have a tickets for a show already for one of them. We've both been there before but I haven't really done any of the tourist type stuff.

Walking through Central park is alway a big deal to me. Bethesda square, the boat pond, the statues, love them all. I adored the metropolitan museum of art. Walking through Rockefeller Center always makes me smile. Love St. Patrick's cathedral, especially at night. We took the Staten Island ferry to see the statue of liberty and to get a good view of the city from the water and it was very pretty. Mostly I love just walking around and popping into stores or people watching.

I love going to the Cloisters. It's such a peaceful area, even though it's in NYC. I also adore the Met. If I could convince my DH to go, I'd definitely try to see an Opera. I love Lincoln Center.

I recommend the Metropolitan Museum of art. I believe you can buy passes at the museum that includes admittance to the museum as well as other popular attractions such as a tour of the city on a double decker bus or admittance to the Top of the Rock. You have a choice of which attractions you want to see. You can walk to Rockefeller Center from the Met. You will pass popular shopping sites like FAO Schwartz. St. Patrick's Cathedral is just across the street from Rockefeller Center. If you go to the top of the Rock you can see the whole city including the Empire State Building. If you want to get on tv, you can go to Rockefeller Center early in the morning for the taping of the Today show.

Central Park (plan on spending time there -- there's a lot to explore)

Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge to Grimaldi's. Explore Brooklyn.

Metropolitan Museum of Art

Walk through the Meatpacking District and get lost in the West Village (which I think is the most charming neighborhood in Manhattan). Window shop in Soho.

If you like cooking (or browsing for fun food items), Eataly, Union Square Greenmarket, Chelsea Market

If it is spring/summer, get outdoor drinks at Frying Pan, the Boat Basin, or 230 Fifth

Have great meals at non-touristy restaurants in non-touristy neighborhoods (There's a lot of fabulous, reasonably priced food in the East Village, for example. There's a lot of awful, overpriced food in Times Square and Little Italy.)

Go to Harlem for a soul food brunch at Amy Ruth's (chicken & waffles -- yum!)

Museum of Natural History

Window shop on 5th Avenue (and see Rockefeller Center and St. Patrick's Cathedral while you're at it) and Madison Avenue (the part north of 57th St)

Eat more. New York is a fantastic eating town.
