I love dance too. Do you do west coast, east coast, lindy or something else?
Sounds similar to me. I did ballroom, so I learned jive and east coast. I cannot seem to relax enough and get grounded enough to pickup lindy beyond whatever I can follow. I'd love to learn west coast, it just looks so cool, but I haven't found a place convenient to learn yet. Have you tried hustle? I love it and it reminds me of west coast since it's a slot dance, but it's way more high energy and the music is ridiculously cheesy at times so that's always fun. I've never tried blues, or even seen someone dancing it (that I know of.)

How fun! I haven't tried hustle yet...I was just getting in to west coast after doing east coast for a while and decided to take a break. the break ended up being longer than I had intended, but I just haven't gotten back in it yet. I've found that the key to west coast is a good partner...it's WAY more imporant there than in east coast from my experience. Or maybe it's just because I'm not comfortable enough yet with WC to stylize on my own more. I really like blues...it's a lot of the same moves and swingouts, but you only rock step when the man leads it, so you lose out on that "home base" to get back in your groove.
I am in Houston area too! So is RP! We need a SO Houston meet up!
