What is a fun, age appropriate gift for a 14 month old girl? I have to pick one up tonight and am at a complete loss. I missed her January birthday and am finally getting to see them tomorrow. Usually, if the birthday was in a warmer month, I would get tickets to the local zoo and stuff them in an obnoxious stuffed zoo animal, but we still have a few months before they would be able to use it...
Any ideas?

Re: Need a gift idea...
My daughter loves this toy:
http://www.walmart.com/ip/LeapFrog-Peek-a-Shoe-Talking-Octopus/16563560It teaches coordination, colors, and numbers.
Or this one:
http://www.walmart.com/ip/LeapFrog-My-Pal-Violet/12080258
which is neat because you can hook it up to the computer and program in the child's name, favorite colors, favorite foods, and the toy will sing songs that incorporate those things. Ellie got hers when she was 9 months old and she STILL plays with it.
Samma has both of the toys Ames suggested and gives them her stamp of approval!

I just gave this to a friend per Ames suggestion
She loves it, so I've been told.
I've never minded when people gift Ellie things that are in the next age range. If it's not something that she can play with right away, we just save it for when she's ready for it. Perfectly acceptable in my book!

I find this post offensive because you did not tag it with baby related.
Just kidding
True Story: I sometimes find myself talking like Violet. It drives me nuts when I catch myself saying DD's name Gab-reeeeee-elllllllll-a (that's how Violet says it).
It's a great toy & I love that you can customize & re-customiszeit.
As for other options: I like to get a toy umbrella stroller & stick a baby doll in it. That way the kid can push "her" baby around like mommy pushes her.
