Could use some good vibes (updated)

First of all, thank you to everyone for being so thoughtful of the pregnancy posts, I'm really starting to feel so, so much better recently so hopefully I won't take everything to heart so much.

So I could use some good thoughts today. DH went in this morning for his SA which I'm sure he was dreading and we should get the results in the next couple weeks. I have a doctor's appointment this evening where I will do my best to beg for lots of bloodwork. I have some sort of doctor-anxiety thing where I just panic and can't explain myself well so would appreciate any good thoughts that I can go in and ask for what I want in a normal manner!

And obviously, good thoughts that they find something to help us. As much as I would hate finding out something is wrong with either of us, just getting some sort of answer or plan would be amazing.

Thanks y'all :-)

Update: Thanks for the vibes! I did bring a list and looked at it beforehand, it really did help to calm me down. I really need to get over this anxiety problem - I have a feeling I'll be spending plenty of time in doctor's offices soon enough.

Anyway, my doctor was super supportive and I'm going in a couple of weeks for some preliminary blood work. She's referring me to the infertility clinic but there's a 4-6 month wait for NHS treatment. I've already emailed a private clinic in Edinburgh to see what it would cost to queue-jump and will be researching options in Glasgow as well. Actually, come to think of it, it would probably be worth looking into London as well. I figure we'll wait for the SA to come back and go from there. But at least I'm on all the right lists now and it's going somewhere which is a huge relief.

Thanks everyone for your support, it's all good here today.

  • Fingers crossed for you Pitt!!!

With the doctor-anxiety thing, maybe make a list during today of what you want to ask for and bring it with you - you can use it to both remind yourself of what you want to ask for and to give a structure to the appointment.  It might help with the "normal manner"...

  • Sending mils'o'vibes.

I agree with IrishGall--perhaps even write a letter in case you get stuck.

  • ::::good vibes!::::

Definitely bring a list and don't be embarrassed to read directly from it. It's a crucial appointment, you need to have all your questions answered. I do that even without anxiety.

  • Good luck! I really hope that the results are in your favour!
  • Vibes!  I also agree with a list of questions.  I do this all the time with doctors and other appointments.  Last time, the guy took my list and answered the questions one-by-one so it was a win-win!

  • I was going to suggest a list, too.  Do it!

And best of luck, I hope you can figure something out!

I agree with the others about writing down all of your questions and concerns.  And don't leave until you've received some answers!  All too often, women especially I think, don't want to come across as rude or pushy or something, and so we say things are fine when they really aren't.  But there are times when you've really got to be proactive and stand up for yourself, you know?  I've really noticed this with Milo's speech issues.  I was told so many times to just wait and see, but finally got fed up and demanded certain things be done, and voila, they were.  Good luck!

  • Lots and lots of vibes for you Pitt.  I hope everything goes smoothly and you get the answers you need.

And another vote for making a list to bring.  It's definitely helped me before.

  • lots of vibes, Pitt!
  • VIBES!!!! that's great that things are happening - so fab that you have a supportive doctor.

I always write lists when I go to the doctor too - I just get flustered there and then forget otherwise - nothing wrong with a list! :)

  • Good luck with everything. I completely understand the anxiety of going to see a doctor. I have such a hard time advocating for myself. It can be intimidating. Good for you for taking a list and yay for a supportive doctor!
