I had the sinus surgery this morning. DH said I was only in the OR for about 30 minutes for the procedure, about an hour total. The doctor drained everything and took out about 10 ccs of "stuff" and fluid. He also did a lavage (flush or cleaning) of the sinuses and made a "window" under the middle turbinate and is very close to the eye and the tear duct to help with drainage. The hope is that it won't ever close although he said about 20% of them do over the years.
I'm already breathing a bit better, and there isn't much pain even though the pain meds have worn off. I can tell that it's really irritated, but it's nothing that Tylenol shouldn't be able to handle. He said I may get stuffy for a day or two while it heals. I may be back on my bike tomorrow easily but definitely by Sunday.
We'll see how this helps. If I get another sinus infection or it doesn't seem to help, I will probably have to have a septoplasty aka have my deviated septum fixed and a few other things fixed
I'll be on antibiotics for a few more weeks to keep it from coming back.
Re: Back from Sinus Surgery
Glad it went well!
I had the septoplasty a few years back and it did wonders for my breathing/chronic sinus infections. I hope this does the same for you!
