More cool photos - Color Photos from the Great Depression Era

http://flavorwire.com/206854/striking-color-photos-of-the-great-depression-and-wwii

I thought these were really cool. I think since most photos from the era tend to be in black & white, that creates a disconnect to those of us who live in the digital age. We forget that these are/were real people. The color in the photos just really makes everything come to life.

  • Thanks for sharing! They were really neat to look through. The one photo was taken in my hometown, but I don't think you can find any sugar fields there now!

  • Oh how cool is that, Nunu! Love it.
  • Thanks for posting this stuff, Ames, I love old photos.  I thought at first these were going to be colored in PhotoShop; I had no idea color photography existed back then. I googled a little to try to find out more about color photography back then and didn't come up with much though.

Anyway, color definitely makes you feel more 'in the moment' when looking at old pictures.  I agree that old black and white pictures, while they can be really awesome, make the subjects seem like they're not real or something, like the picture is of a dream world.

  • These are really neat Ames! The one of the ferris wheel made me think of "The Notebook" and all I could think of was Ryan Gosling dangling from it in his underwear...and then Is tarted wishing I had a detachable shower head at work Wink

  • The chick with the red hair in the first pic looking away from the camera?  Totally Napoleon Dynamite.
