Happy Hunger Games! No Sp.
Anyone see it yet?? No one will go with me and the only person I can enlist is my 12 year old niece who is going with me during spring break. I am almost giddy though with anticipation.
If you have seen it, was it wonderful?

I saw it at midnight and thought it was good. Even though I knew what happened, I was still pretty tense throughout the actual Hunger Games part. I enjoyed the book more for all the same reasons most people enjoy the books more- in depth character development and scene development. You can't make a 400 page book into a 2:30 hour movie and include everything but I thought they included all the important parts and vital scenes.
I really liked how they ended the movie and I know waiting for Catching Fire is going to SUCK. It is my favorite of the books! I think I'm going to read it again soon.
It was really good!! It was very true to the books w/ good scenes added that helped get out of the fist person POV from which the books were written.
I think since my bedtime is normally about 9 pm staying up until 2:30 made me enjoy just a little less, but it really did meet my expectations. And I liked the snippet (even if it was like 10 seconds long) of Breaking Dawn P2 in the previews!
I'm so freaking excited for the show tonight! Last night when I crawled into bed DH asked if I was willing to stand in line for tickets because he had heard people were already camping out for them. I just smiled and told him that we already had tickets.
My friend went to the midnight showing. She said there was a lot of negative feedback from the people sitting around her. She is a HUGE fan of th seriers. My friend said that as long as you realize it's a movie and won't follow the book 100% you're ok.
I saw it.
And I loved it!
I was really impressed. They really brought the arena to life. And Katniss was perfect!
And my oh my Gale is hot.
I wasn't exactly disappointed, but I agree there were a few things I felt were lost in translation and easily could have been included. Overall I was happier with it than most movie adaptations.
I agree. I really enjoyed it and they made it suspenseful, but it felt like some character development was missing. I don't want to give anything away though. There were also a few lines that I distinctly remember from the book that were changed in the movie. I would have liked if they wouldn't have done that. DH who hasn't read the books really liked it.

Saw it last night--was awesome!
I agree too, FI hasn't read the books and he didn't get Katniss's motivation for various things and many of the relationship dynamics.
I liked it pretty well overall and thought it was about as good an adaptation as one could hope for, but I didn't like the camera angles. Close-ups of EVERYTHING and blurry action were distracting.
I really felt as though people who hadn't read the book wouldn't get the true relationships between characters. And I assumed there would be somethings 'off' with the fight or action scenes since the book was so graphic and the movie was only PG13.
