s/o booking cruise over a yr out... Oasis/ Allure?
We are thinking about taking a cruise on the Oasis or Allue in March or June 2013. Based on these being peak travel times due to spring and summer break, would you go ahead and book? I'm sure the prices would not be dropping on these two and the rates are ok right now for the time frame we are thinking. I feel crazy for booking something so far away but I know that otherwise we will be paying much higher prices if we wait. I guess the reason why we are thinking about waiting is so much can happen in a year.. we would be bringing our son and we aren't too sure what his personality will be like. But... we would have the option to cancel beforehand right if it was at least 70 days in advance? Thanks!

If the rates do drop, aren't listed for "New Bookings Only", you can get the rate drop, booking now locks in the price if it goes up.
You can cancel at anytime prior to final payment without incurring any penalty (75 days for 6+ night cruise except for Holiday sailings, you aren't in holiday timeframe)

I don't see anything that far out on the Promowave specials for Tuesday

ETA:
RCCL is having a "WOW" sale next week (Tues 27th/Wed 28th) - reduced deposit and onboard credit. It isn't really sale on the prices, just the addition of the onboard credit and not as much cash up front.
Onboard credit varies on cruise length: 3 to 5-Night cruise will result in a $50 USD/CAD per stateroom, 6 to 9-Night cruise will result in a $100 USD/CAD per stateroom, 10+ Night cruise will result in a $200 USD/CAD per stateroom
Cancer sucks.
Definitely book now and continue checking for price drops.
You can cancel with no penalty if things don't work out!
Go on CruiseCompete.com and look for an agent with a good rep and OBC. Other than waiting for a code (which you can use with a TA and get their OBC too), that'll be your best bet. ETA - look for offers on CruiseCompete now and then use the discount code mentioned by PP with your booking next week to get the biggest bang for the buck.
We booked Oasis 18 mos. out, knowing we could cancel at any time before final payment. It's a fabulous ship and the price on it rarely drops. If you're interested in a Jr. Suite, 9642 was an excellent cabin on the hump (larger balcony). If you want to see the ports when docked, book the starboard side.
If you book now, a good travel agent will monitor the cruise for any price drops that you would be eligible for.
If you know that you want to go, then I wouldn't hesitate to book.
