Recommend a guys' paradise in northern WI

DH is supposed to be planning a guys' weekend/bachelor weekend for his best friend over Memorial Day.  Needless to say, he needs a little help.  We live in central eastern Iowa, but are new to the area. The groom wants to do a fishing weekend up "north", but they don't want to drive TOO far (no more than 6ish hours) so they can still enjoy the weekend.  They want to do some fishing and rent a cabin and relax.  Can anyone recommend any good spots, towns, etc. anywhere along Lake Michigan in Illinois or Wisconsin to even begin to look??? I plan to look on VRBO or Homeaway for a cabin, but need some towns to focus on. Thanks!

    I was initially thinking the Hayward area would be perfect for a guy's fishing weekend but that's closer to a 7-8 hour drive north from you. You might want the check out the WI Dells area, ~4 hours. It's early enough in the season so it won't be overrun with tourists. There's some nice lakes in the area (Devil's Lake, Mirror Lake). I can't think of any towns right along Lake Michigan besides Door County which is pretty far north. Maybe someone else will chime in.

    There are a lot of good fishing locations and cabins along the Wisconsin river.
