HG movie over-analysts come in

I generally liked the movie, but there was one change that I was confused about. The riot in District 11 following Rue's death didn't make sense to me.

I thought the riots didn't start until Katniss showed up the Capitol with the berries?

    I thought this too.

I literally laughed out loud when I first saw the peacekeepers.  They looked like they were headed out for a lazer tag tournament with those silly plastic vests.

See I thought they didn't truely start till they went on the tour and Katniss did that little speal to the parents of Rue and the other and that guy did the whistle, then everything broke out, after the shot him in the head. But Snow did elude to the uprising before when he visited Katniss right before the tour  (Book 2)

  • I agree. It was odd. I still can't get over they didn't do the eyes in the dog/wolf/monster things. I was kind of bummed they didn't use the sleeping syrup to knock out Peeta. Overall I think it was good, but still a little slow.

And the biggest of all was that I hate when I read a book, have the characters look a certain way and they don't look anything like that. In my mind Peeta looked a little more like Gale.

  • See, there were a lot of people coming out of the theatre talking about them not making a big deal out of the eyes and that didn't bother me.  I didn't see it as overly important.  I felt like, at times, the stuff they added was worth as much as what was actually in the book for explanation's sake.

This is what I thought too.

I did like the movie, there were a few things, like the riot and the mockingjay pin that bothered me. Also I was a little bummed that Peeta's father did not visit Katniss before they left for the capital with cookies. I thought that part was important.

My gosh yes! This is my biggest issue all the time. E has to always remind me that just because I see they one way in my head not everyone does. But gosh does it drive me crazy.

  • I also didn't really feel in the movie what I felt in the book between Katniss and Peeta, which obviously I know is going to be more intense in the book, but it was one of my favorite parts of the book and I wanted that a little more in the movie.

I was really happy they left Katniss covering Rue in flowers, and the riots thing did kind of throw me off. But.. now I wonder how is that going to play into the second movie?

  • Gale looked exactly like I imagined him.  In fact, everyone looked exactly like I thought they would EXCEPT for Peeta.

yeah the riots happen during the victor's tour in book two. I think maybe they added it as foreshadowing to link the movies? Idk, I didn't like it. Overall that and the pin were the only things that really bugged me. Although I wanted more Cinna! Lol.

I thought Gale should have been more brooding looking, and Peeta could have been a tad hunkier. I thought the other casting was good. Haymich wasn't *quite* as drunk as they described him, I wanted to see him fall off the stage! Lol

I must have not been too upset bc Dh noted that I didn't whisper "that's not what happened in the book" as much as I normally do with adaptations. Haha.
